Technician (UB)

Bernat Martí Alsina is a technician currently working at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences of the University of Barcelona. He graduated in Biology at the University of Girona, combined with a study abroad program at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (University of Oregon), and holds a master in Marine Biology from the Universidade de Algarve. Currently, he is part of the team working in the long-term monitoring program of the marine biodiversity in the Catalan Natural Parks (Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park and Cap de Creus Natural Park).

He conducted his master’s thesis at the Okeanos Research Group from the Universidade dos Açores, studying the aggregation of whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) visiting the Açores Archipleago. Furthermore, he has been part of other projects, such as the MEDCHANGE project, focused on obtaining long-term data series of sedimentary records formed by marine phanerogams in order to reconstruct the millennial history of coastal ecosystems.
