PhD Student (ICM-CSIC)
PhD student in the Marine Biology and Oceanography Department at Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC).
She has combined her research based on ecology of benthic communities with research on education and also the design and coordination of outreach and educational activities.
Graduated in Biology, she based her practicum on the reproductive aspects of Mediterranean gorgonians under the project LIFE+INDEMARES.
She obtained a Master’s Degree in Oceanography and Marine Environmental Management. Her final master’s degree work was based on the study of distributional patterns of Antarctic gorgonians in the Weddell sea.
She obtained a Master’s Degree in Teacher High School training in the specialty of biology and geology. She based her final master’s degree work on the study of the basis of the Ocean Literacy framework in Spain.
Currently, she coordinates the Gorgònia Barcelona Project in Barcelona, the educational project “El mar a fons” and the participation of the ICM-CSIC in the european project RESBIOS that works towards a more responsible research in biosciences, specially from the perspectives of scientific education, public engagement and gender equality.
Recently, she also has been working in MITICAP project (Cap de Creus area), working towards sustainable fisheries implementing ways to reduce the impacts of the fishing nets in benthic communities. She also did a doctoral stay at the Institut für Didactik der Naturwissenschaften – Abt. Biologiedidactik in Bremen (Germany).
She is part of the Marine Science Literacy Committee at the ICM-CSIC and also is part of the Gender Equality Task Force at the ICM-CSIC.
